Rouge & Co - Malcaracter

Crafted from 100% Tempranillo grown in Fuentenebro, Burgos, in the Ribera del Duero region, this wine reflects the character of high-altitude vineyards and careful, minimal-intervention winemaking.

Origin & Terroir
Made from 100% Tempranillo grapes grown at around 900 to 1,000 metres above sea level in Fuentenebro, Burgos. The altitude brings freshness and allows for a longer ripening period, helping the wine develop depth and balance. The vineyards are planted in clay soils with mica mineral content and are farmed organically, without chemical inputs.

Winemaking & Ageing
The grapes are hand harvested and fermented naturally using indigenous yeasts. Traditional winemaking methods are used throughout. Ageing takes place in a combination of oak, with some vintages also seeing partial ageing in concrete or stainless steel to preserve fruit, freshness and added complexity.

Tasting Notes
Cherry red in colour with violet highlights. The nose is powerful and expressive, with black fruit, candied fruit and gentle spice, sometimes supported by subtle notes of vanilla from the oak. On the palate, it is smooth and well-structured, with ripe fruit, spice and a finish that balances richness with freshness.

Food Pairing
Pairs beautifully with steak, roast meats, game, richly flavoured dishes, aged cheeses and charcuterie.

Serving Temperature
Best served at 14–16°C.

Malcaracter is a boutique winery project born between Rueda and Ribera del Duero. Working with old vines at high altitude, the winery follows a sustainable, low-intervention approach to create wines with real personality and a strong sense of place.
